It is with great pride that we announce that two of our own members are being sworn in to leadership positions with the New York State Funeral Directors Association.
Jeff Jennings, owner of Jennings, Nulton, and Mattle Funeral Home in Penfield, will take office as Region 1 Governor, representing all of the counties in our Rochester Genesee Valley Funeral Directors Association and also most of the counties to the west and south of us. He is currently the Past President of our association, but has also served on various committees of the NYS Funeral Directors Association, including the Government Affairs, Budget and Finance, and Convention Committees. “I enjoy the camaraderie of the other state representatives in what we do. It gives me an opportunity to see what’s happening around the state. I get to take our local concerns to the state level and I also get to bring back information that can help all of us here.” As for having to spend time in meetings and in Albany, Jeff says he doesn’t worry while he’s out of the office and readily gives credit to his staff and their competence.
Scott Anthony, co-owner of Anthony Funeral and Cremation Chapels in Rochester and Webster, will be inaugurated as President of the association in August 2007. In this position, he will oversee the activities of the Executive Board and will work with the Executive Director to continue the group’s positive work in helping funeral directors better serve its membership . Scott is also a past president of our association and has served on the Executive Board and other committees of the NYSFDA for the past eight years. Of his imminent position, Scott says “I’m honored to represent the funeral directors in our state and I’ll work hard to do the best I can.”
Scott will serve for one year, while Jeff will serve a three-year term as Region 1 Governor. When asked if he’d continue with his involvement on the state level to follow Scott and someday become President, he was cautious to respond. “I’ll have to wait to see how big of a time commitment would be involved. I have a younger family and time with them is my priority now.”
Congratulations, Jeff and Scott! We’re proud to have two of our members in leadership positions at the state level.
